Simon H. Danielsson
Through the contemplation of work and the care industry, Simon aproaches his practice as tactile investigation of care as a concept often landing in social performances, drawings and interactive installations that carries questions of power, ambivalence and transformation.
Simon often use paper tissues and wallpaper to make masks, prosthetics and drawings with. By using these low materials he tries to bind his work close to the idea of a home. The figurative aspect of his practice stems from a will to create dynamics between the unsettling and the caring. Simon strives to create images that evokes a sense of ambivalence, often paper, textile, thread and charcoal mixes into a space where transformations and mundane rutines meet.
Social performances is a central part of Simons practice. It is where the fragile meeting occurs between the willing participant and the monstrous caregiver. Often in rather banal caring rituals, such as preparing food, having a conversation about the participants health —all set in a very limited amount of time.
